What translated matters most for Nebraska volleyball this spring

Spring results are useful, but Dani Busboom Kelly was looking for something more specific from the Huskers this time around.

“The main thing is what we have been working on in practice, or some of the players that had great springs, it translated into matches,” Busboom Kelly said. “That is not always easy to do because you can play great in practice but when you are in a match-type environment, that can go away. I was really proud of the players that really stepped up in practices and performed in the three matches we had.”

Nebraska finished its spring season 3-0 with wins over Iowa State, Creighton and Northern Colorado, taking 11 of 12 total sets. The real takeaway, however, wasn’t the record. It was figuring out which players looked just as good when the gym was full, the rotations changed and the pace got faster.

April wasn’t an easy month either. Nebraska practiced away from the Devaney Center because of construction, spent time at Kinetic Sports Complex, adjusted lifting schedules and played three road matches—more than usual—including the farthest west the program has traveled for its annual in-state spring stop.
