Nebraska volleyball is officially back, and Saturday’s Red-White Scrimmage felt different. Let’s just say a mix of curiosity and anticipation took over the Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Dani Busboom Kelly’s first intrasquad match as Nebraska head coach gave 8,414 fans a live look at a roster deep enough to require two courts in practice and competitive enough that nothing, not even the libero job, feels settled.
The Red squad took the first three sets, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22, before the White team grabbed the fourth, 25-17. The rotation changes each set—designed to test combinations rather than crown winners—made for choppy play at times. But within that, the position battles and individual performances offered real insight into where this team stands with less than two weeks before the opener.
