The College Football Playoff selection committee is small by design. Only 13 members hold one of the most influential roles in the sport: determining which teams make the playoff and how they’re seeded.

Nebraska has now earned a voice in that room.

Athletic director Troy Dannen, now in his second year leading Nebraska athletics, was appointed to the College Football Playoff selection committee, the organization announced Monday. Dannen replaces Damon Evans, who left Maryland for the athletic director job at SMU. He’ll serve a standard three-year term.

The appointment is significant too.
