Nine days later, the sting still lingers.
Nebraska’s first loss of the season — a 30-27 setback to Michigan — exposed more than just tactical weaknesses. It revealed how narrow the margins are for a team still figuring out who it wants to be. Matt Rhule wasn’t interested in sugarcoating that reality on Monday when meeting with the media.
“No one cares about your feelings,” Rhule said. “I was frustrated. They’re frustrated. Play better. That’s the message.”
That’s the directive as Michigan State week begins. Nebraska had a bye to breathe, to regroup, to recalibrate. Now the question is what they do with that time.
The Huskers have been here before. Seasons can spiral but they can also pivot. The difference, as Rhule reminded his team repeatedly, often comes down to how you handle what happens next.
