Nebraska’s biggest strength is that there isn’t one

The Huskers are 17-0, unanimous No. 1 and the numbers help explain why opponents are struggling to find a rotation where they can breathe.

Before Nebraska played Wisconsin on Saturday, the Huskers first went on a bit of a side quest.

Harper Murray, Andi Jackson and Bergen Reilly were scheduled to appear on Big Noon Kickoff that morning, hours before the Huskers would face the No. 7 Badgers in the annual blackout match at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Dani Busboom Kelly’s parents wondered whether that was really the best game-day routine.

“I’m like, ‘I think they’re mature enough and they can handle it,’” Busboom Kelly said after Nebraska’s sweep over Wisconsin, 25-23, 25-14, 25-20. “I’m glad that they played well or I would have heard it from my parents. We just continue to lead the charge in awareness, momentum with the sport of volleyball, and that’s just another example.”

Yeah, the Huskers handled it just fine. Nebraska’s seniors spent Saturday morning helping promote their sport to a national football audience and Saturday evening showing why they keep getting those opportunities.

The Huskers swept Wisconsin two days after sweeping No. 15 Indiana on the road. They are 17-0, the last undefeated team in Division I and the unanimous No. 1 team in Monday’s AVCA poll after receiving all 63 first-place votes. They have not dropped a set since Sept. 20.

At this point, another Nebraska sweep is not exactly breaking news. The more interesting question is becoming this: Where, exactly, are opponents supposed to attack this team?
