Nebraska volleyball’s 2028 class is off to a fast start
For Nebraska volleyball, the first day of direct contact with the 2028 class wasn’t quiet for long.
For Nebraska volleyball, the first day of direct contact with the 2028 class wasn’t a quiet one for long.
By the end of Monday, the Huskers had commitments from two of the top prospects in the country: Milford middle blocker Shayla Rautenberg and Harrisburg, South Dakota, setter Josalyn Samuels. One is an in-state legacy whose last name already means something in Lincoln, while the other is a high-level setter from the same club pipeline that helped develop Bergen Reilly.
It is a solid early statement for Dani Busboom Kelly’s staff. Nebraska opened with a class that already has some shape to it: size in the middle, length at setter, national rankings, USA Volleyball experience and two players who have already spent a lot of time winning. That’s not a bad place to be, especially for a program with expectations like Nebraska.
And Monday was an important start.
