Nebraska volleyball has plenty to prove, and plenty to enjoy
Big Ten Media Days showed a Husker team embracing the pressure, visibility and opportunity that come with another title chase.
Nebraska volleyball kicked off Big Ten Media Days on Monday, which feels about right.
If football’s time in Chicago was the official warning that fall is coming, volleyball’s turn solidified it. The Huskers are full speed ahead into the season at this point too. They’re set to open in Las Vegas—where they’ll face Texas right away—and play in big venues on national television throughout the season.
And, once again, the goal has not changed: win a national championship.
That is always the standard, but it feels especially pointed for this group. The Huskers went 33-1 last season, were undefeated until the Elite Eight and still left the year feeling unfinished after a five-set loss to eventual national champion Texas A&M.
Dani Busboom Kelly, Bergen Reilly and Andi Jackson were in Chicago on Monday to talk through some of that. That included conversations on the pressure, the expectations and the growth of a senior class that has already won a lot (but not the final thing it came to Nebraska to win).
