Nebraska volleyball’s undefeated run is becoming something bigger.

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about volleyball — so let’s.

Because we should.

Nebraska is 18–0, the No. 1 team in the country and one of only two undefeated programs left in Division I volleyball. The other is Texas.

The Huskers have swept their last nine opponents, including both Michigan schools this past weekend, and they’ve done it while hitting over .300 in every match. That’s not normal, to be clear.

Since 1981, only four programs — five teams — have finished a season undefeated and won the national title: Long Beach State (1998), Nebraska (2000), Southern California (2003) and Penn State (2008 and 2009). It’s been sixteen years since the sport last saw a perfect champion.

Nebraska, right now, looks like the team most capable of ending that drought.
