Nebraska vs. Creighton volleyball week always carries its own little charge. This week? Well, there’s an extra layer to the whole thing.
Jon Rothstein will be in town to make good on the happy hour he promised Nebraska men’s basketball for winning an NCAA Tournament game. That begins at 5 p.m. at Gate 25 on Wednesday, and Nebraska had added a fun caveat to the information:
“Wristbands will not be issued to guests wearing blue, and anyone in blue will not be served from 5-6 p.m.”
So, yes, the rivalry portion of the week is alive and well.
No. 1 Nebraska and No. 20 Creighton meet Wednesday night in a sold-out Pinnacle Bank Arena, and the timing makes this feel like more than the usual in-state matchup. Nebraska is still unbeaten, but Georgia Tech just forced the Huskers into their first real in-match adjustment of the season. Creighton is 5-4, which looks uneven until you zoom out and see the schedule the Jays have already played.
That is why this matchup works as a checkpoint for both teams.
