A national title on the line, at the line

It's Nebraska-Texas for a volleyball title. Enjoy the fireworks, but keep an eye on the easy-to-miss stuff, too.

No matter which team Nebraska was going to get, it was getting a nemesis. Wisconsin or Texas? Which team do you want to beat more if you’re a Husker volleyball fan?

It was tough to choose, though there was no choice to be made. It was Texas, the seventh overall seed in the tournament, that decided with a surprisingly dominant 3-1 win over Wisconsin Thursday night in Tampa.

Oh, and Nebraska was maybe even more dominant in its sweep of Pittsburgh. The Huskers did some deciding, too.

Instead of a Husker-Badger rubber match on Sunday, we get Nebraska-Texas, part 58. The Huskers are 33-24 all-time against the Longhorns. Despite sharing a conference with Wisconsin since 2011, the history with Texas is deeper.

“You know, it’s Lakers-Celtics,” Longhorns head coach Jerritt Elliott said of the championship matchup.

Yes, but it’s more than that. At least for Husker fans.
